Kaur's Worlds

MANU KAUR

Kaur's Worlds

What does a person feel when she leaves her origins behind and sets out in search of the promised land? How far does the physical and emotional uprooting go? How far are the difficulties? What additional problems would she face for being a woman?

In this very special book, the author makes a beautiful journey through the story of two generations of women of Indian origin who build their lives in the western part of the world. Fear, solidarity, love, effort, motherhood, work... These are the threads with which the spider's web that is life is constructed and many of them remain trapped in between two worlds, the one where they were born and the other of their host, that of their families and that of their birth.

This is a story of a woman written by a woman, that deals with a universal concept: cultural differences and how they especially affect half of the world's inhabitants, women, their daughters, and their daughters' daughters, in a continuous spiral that is almost impossible to break. A book that oozes tenderness and truth. A book full of colors, joy and love, that immerses us in the wonderful Worlds of Kaur.

Gemma

"I found the book fascinating. It narrates the reality of many women and how we can get to understand them better. It is a way to get closer to their reality and be enriched by another culture. I definitely recommend it because I loved it".

Matilde

"I loved this book because it is easy to read, but at the same time it talks about very deep things. The life of the emigrants, the permanence to a culture of which the best is highlighted, and that wonderful character that is the protagonist and that conquers your heart.... More than recommendable".

Nancy

"I have read it and it is the first time I have finished a book in such a short time. It is very well written. I can relate my life to both part I and part II. It's as if you have narrated my life. Congratulations and thank you for representing our struggles, problems."
